Jennifer Bishop, LMHC and Founder of Genesis Counseling & Consulting, Inc.in Boca Raton, Florida and is a Qualified Supervisor with the State of Florida.
The Florida Department of Health regulates that for mental health counselors (registered interns) to become licensed as an LMHC they must complete 1 hour (minimum) of supervision in a 2-week period. Registered Interns must be in compliance with the required 2 years of clinical experience consisting of at least 1500 hours of providing psychotherapy face-to-face with clients and that supervision was accrued in no less than 100 weeks. Registered interns must remain in clinical supervision until obtaining licensure.
- Minimum 1500 hours of psychotherapy face to face with a qualified clinical supervisor
- Minimum 100 hours of clinical supervision, face-to-face over a minimum of 100 week
- Maximum of 50% of clinical supervision can be “group supervision”
Jennifer provides supervisor to registered interns in her local community of Delray Beach, Boca Raton and surrounding areas. Her practice specializes in working with families who have recently gone through life transitions, such as divorce or remarriage. She specializes in working with children 12 and under and in providing parenting. Jennifer pulls from psychoanalytic, Gestalt, play therapy, art therapy, DBT, Cognitive Behavioral, psychodrama and other modalities. At times, she will allow interns to participate in groups and workshops that are being run at her private practice to gain additional hours and experience. As a supervisor, Jennifer brings a combination of deep compassion, sharp insight, patience and result-focused commitment to all of her interns.
